Vilnius, Lithuania. January, 2010. 📷🗺

@scojjac Unfortunately, I didn’t, and I feel sad about that. It’s absolutely on my list of places I must travel to. The closest I got to Estonia was Riga in Latvia. I’m certainly not complaining about that, though. I had a great time there, too. Is there anything in particular I should be sure to check out in Tallinn?

Old Town incl. Toompea; the restaurant Olde Hansa had a really good cinnamon beer; if it’s still open, Pegasus was a nice restaurant in a former artist collective building; Kalev brand marzipan is excellent (the liqueur one was my fave), Kadriorg (visit Gourmet Coffee nearby) … really just explore - weather was great in July.

@scojjac [Furiously taking notes on all these great places…]
These are excellent suggestions. I can’t thank you enough. I’m supposed to honeymoon in Scotland and Ireland hopefully sometime soon (when it’s safe and feasible to do so). What’s a quick hop over to Estonia for a few days? Seems like it would be totally worth it.

I think you’d love it. What were some highlights of Lithuania and Latvia?

@scojjac My memory of Lithuania and Latvia is a bit foggy at this point; it’s been over a decade since I went there. In Lithuania, I enjoyed seeing Trakai Castle—this beautiful structure in the middle of a lake. Gediminas Castle was also lovely, and offered some great views of Vilnius. The TV tower was also great. It’s got some sad history, but I think it’s important. There was also a revolving restaurant on top of the tower, which was neat. I didn’t do much in Latvia except walk around the city. That ended up being more of a day trip. Wintertime was obviously cold, but the summer was great, as well.
